A planning estimate, not a contractor takeoff. Terminal posts at corners and gates are heavier than line posts, size them up.

How it works

  1. 1

    Enter length and height

Add the run length and fence height. Chain link defaults to 10 ft post spacing.

  2. 2

    Adjust spacing

Tighten the spacing for a stronger fence, or leave the default.

  3. 3

    Read the materials

See posts, the linear feet of top rail and mesh, and concrete bags.

Frequently asked questions

Why does chain link use wider spacing?
Chain-link posts commonly sit up to 10 ft apart because the mesh and top rail carry the span, so it needs fewer posts than a board fence of the same length.
What does it count for chain link?
It reports posts, the top rail and mesh as linear feet of the fenced run, and the concrete to set the posts. Tension wire and fittings are sold per run, so add those at the yard.
Are these numbers exact?
They are close planning estimates, not a substitute for a contractor takeoff. Real quantities depend on your terrain, post spacing, waste and local building code, so buy a little extra and confirm against your supplier.
Is my fence design sent anywhere?
No. Everything runs in your browser. The layout, lengths and prices you enter stay on your device, nothing is uploaded, logged or stored, and it all clears when you close the tab.
